Looking at the basics of lighting and create a skydome for the scene.
I created a geosphere, for the 3D models and used Mental Ray default lighting to a scene. And the
source of the light was not visible within the scene, so I created default sunlight as well for the scene. I had to add my own lighting to the scene. As soon as you add you own light, the default lighting is switched off. You can expect your scene to become darker after adding your first light. This is due to 3D Studio Max using two lights in its default
lighting. When you delete your last light from the scene, the default lighting will be turned on again.
It is worth noting that replicating the exact position of light sources in the real world in your scenes, will
not necessarily create the required effect. I ‘considered’ the position of actual light
sources in the real world, didn't restrict myself to them in order to achieve the desired
effect. Light areas often draw the attention of the viewer, while dark areas tend to fade
into the background.

Week 3: (Continuation) of week 2: Three Models for the assignment
This week I covered some modelling techniques, including how to add extra geometry into the models and how to use boolean operations to cut out or join together complex shapes. Also covered align tool along with covering up my models using these techniques.
Adding polygons to the plane:

Week 2: Using reference images for the models using 2D shapes to create 3D models.
Few extra techniques for using 2D shapes to create 3D models, including the Lathe modifier. Also examining how to create a 3-View Virtual Studio editing environment, which will allows to bring in technical drawings of objects into 3D Studio Max and use them to create outlines of the 3D objects.
First using reference images for the gun which I used:

Week 2: Continue to Learn more about 3D Studio Max 8 & Introductory Notes-2 Modelling Techniques
I learnt on how to add Mesh Elements into models, add polygons, add new vertex along an edge, add new edge between two vertices, boolean operations- and its mathematical functions, how to group objects and align them with the help of aligning tools.
